SECTION 01 // INSTITUTIONAL GENESIS & LEGACY

From Cutaneous Research Charter to Global Philanthropic Catalyst

Incorporated in the State of Florida on December 18, 2007 (Document #N07000012195) and granted federal 501(c)(3) tax-exempt private foundation status by the Internal Revenue Service in February 2009, the institution was originally established as The Foundation for Skin Disease Research and Education, Incorporated.

Founded by Dr. Mark S. Nestor, MD, PhD—an internationally recognized dermatologist, cutaneous surgeon, and UCLA-trained experimental immunopathologist—the Foundation emerged from a vision to bridge rigorous university-level molecular inquiry at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine with agile private philanthropic grantmaking at the Center for Clinical and Cosmetic Research (CCCR) in Aventura, Florida.

Evolving into the Nestor Family Foundation, Inc., our mandate encompasses both specialized clinical dermatology fellowships—training rising physician-scientists in cutaneous oncology, photodynamic therapy, and complex inflammatory skin diseases—and broader philanthropic grants supporting community health, medical education, and integrative human wellness.
